Emily Owens, M.D. is a new CW series about a young woman starting her medical career. In a new clip, Emily gets some encouragement from a (hot) fellow doctor.
Are you ready for some young-adult drama? The CW, which typically targets the teen crowd, is growing up. This fall, they'll premiere a medical dramedy called Emily Owens, M.D. It's part Grey's Anatomy and part Ally McBeal.
Denver Memorial Hospital is where the magic happens. It's where Emily Owens spends the first year of her internship, alongside her med school crush and high school nemesis.
Speaking of her crush, his name is Will Rider, and he's played by actor Justin Hartley. CW fans will remember him from his role on Smallville, where he played Oliver Queen/Green Arrow. He was one of the superhero regulars who frequented the show. But Will is the complete opposite of Oliver. Hartley's traded in his bow and arrow for a stethoscope.
Mamie Gummer plays the show's title character and brings an awkward yet hilarious quality to the role. Like Zooey Deschanel on New Girl, Gummer makes it cool to be different. Before headlining her own series, the actress appeared on The Good Wife and Showtime's The Big C.
Emily Owens, M.D. also stars Aja Naomi King, Michelle Harrison, Kelly McCreary, Michael Rady, Julia Sarah Stone and Necar Zadegan.
