Going To The Hospital Just Got Even Worse

As if going to the hospital isn’t nerve-racking enough, FOX’s new series The Mob Doctor is sure to get you wondering about what your doctor does after hours!

Synopsis:

The Mob Doctor centers on Dr. Grace Devlin (Jordana Spiro), a good-hearted Chicago surgeon with some horrifying ties. Did I mention those ties are to the mafia? Despite a childhood she'd rather forget, Devlin agrees to provide under-the-table medical services to the mob in order to pay off her brother's (Jesse Lee Soffer) life-threatening gambling debt. There's nothing too horribly wrong with performing some illegal surgeries and treatments in back rooms, right?

Devlin manages to keep her second life a secret from everyone — even her steamy boyfriend, Dr. Brett Robinson (Zach Gilford) — but the arrangement comes to a terrifying halt when the mob orders Devlin to kill one of her patients, a man who will testify against them once he recovers.

Now, not only is her brother in danger, but her mother (Wendy Makkena) and Dr. Devlin herself just got added to the growing hit list! Devlin is forced to ask for help from people from her past that she'd rather forget, and her secret may have just gotten too big to protect for much longer.

Why should you watch?

With Devlin struck at the crossroads of returning to the life she so badly wanted to escape and protecting the ones she loves, this mix between a medical series and an action-packed drama is bound to keep you on the edge of your seat!

The Mob Doctor is scheduled to premier Monday, Sept. 17, at 9/8c.

Comments on "The Mob Doctor takes "the best of both worlds" to a new level"

My initial impression of Mob Doctor was not really positive. I felt like Mob Doctor is an awkward mash-up of overused concepts (the mafia and medical shows). That said there have been a few new trailers and promos which have really impressed me. My coworker at Dish and I were talking about it, we’re both excited to check it out. My Hopper DVR is going to working a lot this season with all the new pilots I think. It will automatically record all the prime time shows from the four major networks with having to set anything up. I will be able to check out all the pilots on without having to flip channels back and forth. Mob Doctor will probably be my new favorite, especially if William Forsythe from Boardwalk Empire is going to be a regular like some blogs are suggesting.
