Director and writer Bret Easton Ellis might have lost the chance to write the screenplay for Fifty Shades of Grey, but he's still obsessed with the books. Case in point: He has "sources" that are telling him information about the upcoming film adaptation.
Naturally, he's tweeting that information.
"Just got inside information that James Deen is actually in the running to play Christian in Fifty Shades of Grey with E.L. James support," Easton Ellis tweeted on Sept. 1, referring to the prolific young porn star starring in The Canyons with Lindsay Lohan.
"Fifty Shades of Grey will be budgeted at 12-15 million and James Deen is on the list of actors to play Christian Grey according to source," he continued. "Fifty Shades of Grey movie will DEFINITELY be written by a woman and the budget will be below 15 million. Ana will be played by an unknown."
Take it with a grain of salt, but this seems like the most plausible scenario yet. We've always envisioned a relative unknown actor to take the role of Grey over such established stars like Ian Somerhalder and Alexander Skarsgard. And yes, Deen is unknown to those who aren't porn aficionados.
So, just who is the 26-year-old Deen? He's managed to become a star in an industry that's focused on women. He has that sort of confident, bordering-on-sociopathic attitude about sex that make him a perfect choice for the obsessive Grey. He's done pretty much everything on camera, so nothing would be off-limits during filming.
Also, the ladies love him. He's adorable.
Will it happen? Wait and see, but it seems like Deen is trying to get some practice in to help his chances.
"I now have a suspension point and pulley system in my house... Who's ready to party (insert devious grin here)#bdsmdreamcometrue," he tweeted over the weekend.
