Did John Witherspoon die? If so, that'd be news to him! The comedian took to Twitter Thursday night to dispel reports he'd passed, and call out to those spreading the rumors to do him a solid.
John Witherspoon, loved by many for his roles in House Party and Friday, was surprised to find himself reportedly dead and a trending topic on Twitter.
"What the Hell y'all talking bout on Here?!??" the 70-year-old tweeted after seeing R.I.P. John Witherspoon take over the social networking site.
The comedian then added, "I ain't 'DEAD' I'm in Ft Lauderdale at the Hard Rock Cafe Gettin dat Paper."
"John Witherspoon Is NOT Dead - And Shame On Whoever's Behind Such A Hurtful/Disgusting Lie!" wrote actress Jackée Harry, catching the rumored-to-be-deceased's eye. Retweeting her message, Witherspoon added, "@JackeeHarry You tell em' Jackée these internet kids is crazy these days."
Taking advantage of the attention, John Witherspoon added, "Hey but since I'm #Trending y'all better follow me and spread the word that I AIN'T DEAD," adding, "Hey since ya'll care about me so much go check out my Cooking show on YouTube."

As his moment in the trending spotlight came to a close, the actor bid his followers goodnight -- but not goodbye.
