In the video — for Bieber's latest single "As Long As You Love Me" — we see Bieber trying to convince Madsen's tough guy character that he really loves his daughter with dialogue like: "I love her" and "you don't know us."
Naturally, Madsen's character isn't down for that. "I know what type of guy you are, I used to be the same thing," he tells suitor Bieber. "I know what that means... that means one day you'll leave her for somebody else, break her heart."
He then tells Bieber to take off of "it won't be good." Does Bieber listen? Of course not. The young lovers try to take off together, but Daddy Dearest finds them and shows Bieber who's in charge with a few blows to the face.
Directed by Anthony Mandler, the "As Long As You Love Me" video is full of brooding Bieber doing his best to look grown up. It's a far cry from "Baby" — and we give Selena Gomez's boyfriend an "A" for effort.
"I'm 20. I don't take anything in my personal life too seriously," she told Teen Vogue in a new cover story. "I have great friends and a solid group of people I love. I feel like everything else will come organically."
