Jane Pitt pens letter to the editor

Jane Pitt hates Barack Obama and she doesn't care who knows it! The mother of Brad Pitt wrote a letter to her hometown newspaper detailing why she thinks everyone should vote for Mitt Romney in the fall.

Jane Pitt pens letter to the editorBrad Pitt might be a freewheelin' liberal type, but he apparently didn't learn that from his mother, Jane Pitt. The grandmother of Shiloh, Maddox and the gang wrote a letter to her hometown newspaper, the Springfield (Missouri) News-Leader, urging her fellow God-fearing citizens to vote for Mitt Romney in November.

"I think any Christian should spend much time in prayer before refusing to vote for a family man with high morals, business experience, who is against abortion, and shares Christian conviction concerning homosexuality just because he is a Mormon," Jane wrote in the letter.

"Any Christian who does not vote or writes in a name is casting a vote for Romney’s opponent, Barack Hussein Obama — a man who sat in Jeremiah Wright’s church for years, did not hold a public ceremony to mark the National Day of Prayer, and is a liberal who supports the killing of unborn babies and same-sex marriage."

Many thought that the letter was a hoax, but the paper later posted a note confirming that Pitt's mom penned it.

"To clear up earlier confusion, the News-Leader has verified the letter writer is the mother of actor Brad Pitt and local businessman Doug Pitt," editors wrote.

The letter is surprising, given that Pitt and his fiance, Angelina Jolie, have been such outspoken proponents of same-sex marriage. The couple once said they wouldn't get married until everyone was allowed to, but later changed their minds under pressure from their brood.

"But to be in love with someone and be raising a family with someone and want to make that commitment and not be able to is ludicrous, just ludicrous," Pitt told The Hollywood Reporter in April of gay marriage.

Jane might have an ally in Jolie when it comes to President Obama, though: Pitt and his ladylove met with Obama in the Oval Office earlier this year. However, the actress has had quite the tenuous relationship with the president over the past few years.

"She's into education and rehabilitation and thinks Obama is all about welfare and handouts," a source told US Weekly in 2009. "She thinks Obama is really a socialist in disguise."

Well, at least Jolie and her future mother-in-law have one thing in common.
