Neil Diamond Doesn't Want To End Up Alone

Neil Diamond is one seriously high maintenance man, and he knows it! The singer speaks about having finally met a woman who can handle his "right now" needs.

Neil DiamondNeil Diamond's high maintenance needs are now being handled by his third wife, Katie McNeil. The "Sweet Caroline" singer recently spoke very openly to Parade magazine about his own fears, and why his latest marriage is built to last.

"Both are spectacular women," Neil Diamond said of his two first wives. "I felt if I couldn’t make something wonderful and lifelong happen with them, then maybe I wasn’t capable of it."

The 71-year-old continued, "But I’m throwing myself back in because I like being married. I don’t want to end this whole fabulous journey alone. I want someone by my side who I love and who loves me. I’ve finally found somebody who’s up to the task of being my wife, because I’m very... high maintenance."

“When I need my wife or when I need companionship or someone to talk to, I need it, like, now," Neil Diamond went on to explain. "So my wife will have to give up whatever she’s doing at that moment to tend to my needs. And in the same way, I would tend to hers. That’s not such an easy thing to do."

For her part, Katie McNeil admits she was reluctant to start a relationship with the "You Don't Bring Me Flowers" singer because she started out as his co-manager. "Part of me said, ‘Don’t get involved; he’s a client.’ There are a lot of complications for a lot of reasons," she shared. "But our chemistry grew into something that couldn’t be denied.”

Making light of the candid interview about his relationship issues, Neil Diamond tweeted Thursday, "My wife is having fun with the fact I told Parade Mag I'm high maintenance. Hope she doesn't read the whole interview Sunday! #getflowers"
