Howard Stern ripped the decision to hire Britney Spears as the new judge on X Factor, saying the pop queen will do little more than twirl her hair and look cute. Does he have a point?
Radio shock jock Stern, who is raking in a reported $20 million to sit on the judges' panel of America's Got Talent, pretty much called Britney useless and vapid during a press conference to promote his new project.
"Well, I think it's a wonderful decision," Stern said sarcastically. "Britney still thinks the earth is flat."
"I don't anticipate great opinions from her. I think she's gonna sit there like J.Lo, 'Oh, you're wonderful, you're terrific. You think I can get a perfume endorsement out of this?'" he said, insulting American Idol judge Jennifer Lopez while he was at it.
"As far as any real criticism, I think Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid will do that," he said. "I think Britney will sit there and eat a lollipop and wear a sexy outfit."
Of course, the fact of the matter is that Britney could sit there and pick her nose for an hour and X Factor would still get crazy ratings by her presence alone -- much like AGT is taking a gamble Stern's presence will do. Besides, it's not like Britney has no experience with televised talent competitions. She did get her start on Star Search, after all.
