Charlize Theron is quickly learning that advice that might sound ridiculous when you don't have kids is actually golden when put to real-world use.
The Young Adult actress, who just confirmed she adopted a baby boy named Jackson, talked about her new bundle of joy with Ryan Seacrest today -- and she revealed her new favorite parenting tip.
"It's been amazing, the amount of emails and congratulations," Theron, 36, told Seacrest. "Everyone's just been so lovely -- it's been really nice."
"I didn't think I would be a fan of the swaddling, but the swaddling's pretty amazing," said the Snow White and the Huntsman star.
"It sort of looks a bit like a straitjacket -- you're like, 'Is this child abuse?' but for some reason they just love it."
The actress's rep confirmed the news of the adoption yesterday. "Charlize Theron has adopted a child. She is the proud mom of a healthy baby boy named Jackson," the rep said.
While Theron did not specifically state when the adoption took place, photos taken on the set of Snow White back in January show her snuggling with a male infant, thought to be Jackson.
Theron is currently unattached and adopted Jackson as a single mom, a situation that's just fine with her.
"I really want for myself a long-term relationship, and I have been in long-term relationships," Theron told Piers Morgan last June. "That's the kind of union that I want. The actual ceremony is not something that is important to me, but I see the importance for other people."
"I treat my relationships like marriages, I really do," she said. "[Marriage was] never something that was important [to me]."
