Fans are ecstatic over the newly-released clip from Hunger Games. The short scene shows Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) meeting Cinna (Lenny Kravitz) as he prepares her for a transformation from District 12 nobody to Capitol celebrity.
Some critics of the clip say it doesn't play accurately into Suzanne Collins' depiction of Katniss. Ben Moore of Screen Rant writes, "If there's one thing that feels a bit clunky about the clip above, it's the constant infodump for the sole benefit of the audience. In the book, everything that Cinna says about sponsors and 'coal miners' outfits' and how they usually dress the tributes is the sort of thing Katniss would already know."
We love the clip. Lenny Kravitz shows his acting chops even though Hunger Games is only his second film appearance since 2009's Precious.
Kravitz told Rolling Stone magazine that acting was his first passion, even before music, "I was an actor when I was a kid. When I realized music was my thing, I just gave it up. I put blinders on, just focused on music. It's come back now and I really am enjoying it."
And Kravitz isn't shy about his enthusiasm for his character, Cinna. In the same Rolling Stone interview, he explains why he loved playing Cinna. "He's very streamlined, he's very smooth." Kravitz continues, "He knows what he's doing. He's confident. He's got a big heart. I just liked the way he moved — very smooth."
