Dust off the old purity ring: Jonas Brothers crooner Nick Jonas and Australia songbird Delta Goodrem are the latest celebrities taking up residence in Splitsville. The May-December twosome have announced that they're calling it quits after nine months.
"Nick and Delta have decided mutually to end their relationship. At this point in time, they are both focused on their careers as they go on different paths," Delta's spokesfolks remarked in an official statement Tuesday.
"They remain friends and wish each other the best for the future."
Delta, 27, and Nick, 19, first sparked whispers of a romance after stepping out together in Los Angeles last spring. Despite an eight-year age difference, their relationship quickly became serious.
The pair traveled the globe and collaborated on songs together. Delta and Nick even met each other's parents!
After spending a few days sightseeing in Sydney, the couple joined Delta's family to celebrate her mother's birthday in December. The occasion also doubled as the first official meet and greet between Jonas and the Goodrems.
"Occasionally they'd give each other a little touch, or hold hands," a spywitness told Hollywood Life. "They'd look at each other with goo goo eyes."
Delta will spend the next few months getting acclimated to her new role as a coach on the Aussie edition of the reality show The Voice. Meanwhile, Nick -- who previously dated Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez -- is hard at work on the Broadway musical How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, a production that previously starred Daniel Radcliffe and Darren Criss.
