Kate Upton is the It Girl of the moment, thanks to her horribly photoshopped Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue cover. However, don't expect her to grace runways anytime soon.
In fact, a Victoria's Secret model scout told the New York Times that the company wouldn't consider her for a runway job.
"She's like a Page 3 girl," Sophia Neophitou told the New York Times. "She's like a footballer's wife, with the too-blond hair and that kind of face that anyone with enough money can go out and buy."
The 19-year-old blonde shouldn't feel too bad, though — past SI cover girls like Irina Shayk and Brooklyn Decker haven't graced a Victoria's Secret runway, either.
Upton is just the kind of approachable beauty that men love, though. "People told me I couldn't be fashion, that I'm just an old-fashioned body girl, only good for swimwear," Upton told the Times. "But I knew that I could bring back the supermodel."
It makes sense that Upton identifies with supermodels of the past, given her voluptuous body. She cites Christie Brinkley and Heidi Klum — not waif-thin runway models — as her idols.
"I look up to them so much because of what they were able to accomplish after their covers and what they represent: Smart, beautiful, intelligent, confident women," she told Entertainment Weekly.
She won't be hurting for work — or attention — for the foreseeable future. After all, she's number two on AskMen.com's list of the top 99 women of 2012, right behind Modern Family's Sofia Vergara. Her dance card will always be filled with swimsuit fashion shoots and plenty of suitors.
Plus, it seems like Upton and her management are already planning bigger things for her career, like fashion lines and television projects.
"Kate is bigger than fashion," said Ivan Bart of IMG Models. "She's the Jayne Mansfield of the Internet."
