The name alone screams "watch me!" Way to go on Bunheads, ABC Family!
With a name like Bunheads, we don't need to tell you the show zeros in on dance.
The pilot from Gilmore Girls creator, Amy Sherman-Palladino, features Tony-winner Sutton Foster as a Las Vegas show girl who marries on a whim and moves to her new husband's home in a "sleepy" town.
While there, she works at a dance school that also happens to be run by her mother-in-law.
This actually sounds like an entertaining concept.
Sherman-Palladino said back in September before the pilot got a series order, "I spent 20 years of my life with my hair in a bun. I was supposed to be a dancer. My mother was a dancer. Her greatest heartbreak was when I got on Roseanne [as a writer]."
She added, "So, while writing this will never equal playing 'Rumpleteazer' in a bus and truck tour of Cats, it does let me to tip my hat to a really special time in my life."
Bunheads isn't the only pilot that got a series pickup. Baby Daddy and the reality series Beverly Hills Nannies also received series orders.
Are you doing the happy dance for Bunheads or are you done with dance shows?
This doesn't sound anything like the typical musical shows on right now, so maybe we should give it a chance. It certainly doesn't sound like Smash, which debuted to solid numbers Monday night (Feb. 6).
