Blake Lively Gets Foot-In-Mouth Disease
Blake Lively managed to offend a whole group of people with one quote in the new issue of ELLE.
"I hope to have a few girls one day. If not girls, they better be trannies," she told the magazine. "Because I have some amazing shoes and bags and stories that need to be appreciated." Um, okay. Lively meant it as a joke, but it comes off as incredibly insensitive. Even Christian Siriano was blasted for using his signature phrase, "hot, tranny mess," on Project Runway. GLAAD also trashed Glee for using the word during an episode. "Unfortunately the larger problem here is that the word "tra**y" has become an easy punch line in popular culture, and many still don't realize that using the term is hurtful, dehumanizing and associated with violence, hatred and derision," wrote GLAAD's Matt Kane in a November 2010 statement. Besides that, Lively's interview was pretty boring — she claims she's only had four boyfriends and isn't looking for a new apartment with Reynolds. "Newspapers say a lot of stuff, don't they? Though I wish I could afford half the places that I hear I'm looking at. Sign me up!" she said. However, we're most upset about her Christian Louboutin talk. "When I'm going to an event, I'll send Christian (Louboutin) a picture of my outfit and say, 'What shoes do you think I should wear with this?'" she said. Not fair, Blake.
