Leslie Carter Dead At 25
Leslie Carter -- the younger sister of singing stars Nick and Aaron Carter -- died in upstate New York on Tuesday, a family spokesperson has confirmed.
Leslie Carter, 25, died Tuesday in upstate New York.
"We are deeply saddened for the loss of our beloved sister, daughter and granddaughter, Leslie Carter. We request the utmost privacy during this difficult time," the family's statement read.
"Our family is grieving right now and it's a private matter," a family spokesperson said late Tuesday, refusing to comment on a possible cause of death.
Leslie is best remembered for appearance on her family's short-lived reality show, House of Carters, in 2006. But the blonde credited herself a singer in her own right.
Her debut album was shelved by DreamWorks Records in 1999, but Leslie managed to release one single. Her tune "Like Wow!" was featured on the Shrek soundtrack in 2001.
Leslie is survived by four siblings (Angel, Aaron, Nick and Bobbie Jean), her husband of three years Mike Ashton and a daughter, Alyssa Jane Ashton, born in April 2011.
This is the latest spat of bad news for the Carter clan.
Aaron -- once at the center of a bitter feud between then-teenage starlets Hilary Duff and Lindsay Lohan -- has been plagued by a myriad of addiction and tax troubles in recent years. The former Celebrity Rehab participant checked into an undisclosed treatment center for his latest bout of detoxing in January 2011.
Aaron's currently starring in the off-Broadway show The Fantasticks. Nick's solo LP I'm Taking Off never quite did. He continues touring with the Backstreet Boys.
