Bowled Over By
Meryl Streep

Melissa McCarthy is just a regular gal who likes to be funny and freaks out when she meets celebrities -- even though she is one herself! Find out what happened when she crossed paths with Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and Meryl Streep.

Oscar nominee Melissa McCarthy has been catapulted to a new level of stardom since her hilarious turn in Bridesmaids, but the Mike & Molly star still gets starstruck just like the rest of us.

McCarthy told Ellen DeGeneres that she was utterly bowled over by the preternatural beauty of "It" couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie when she ran across them at the Golden Globes.

"They're so nice and chatty and really bubbly," McCarthy said. "Finally, I got a little weird and I was like, 'You have to stop for a minute, because it's a lot visually to take in… they just kind of laughed."

"I said, 'No, really it is a lot visually to take in!' She's like weirdly glowing, she's so beautiful -- he's kind of cute too," she joked.

After that surreal experience McCarthy said she felt someone pulling on her hand. "And I turned around and she said, 'Hi, I'm Meryl.'"

What do you say when confronted by a cultural icon? "Literally, like my brain snapped in two… and then I really didn't know what to say."

"I just kept going, 'Oh, my God. You're Meryl Streep!' And she was chatting like a normal human being. And I said, 'Oh my god. I'm sorry -- I thought over the years so many things, if I ever got to meet you, what I would say -- this is not it,'" she said. "And, she goes, 'Oh my God, don't even worry about it.'"

"For some reason I felt I need to bookend it with and repeat: 'Oh my god, you're Meryl Streep!'"

It's okay Melissa, we'd probably do the same thing.
