Cowell Has A New Show

Simon Cowell has a bright idea. What if he took The X Factor formula and applied it to DJs? Cowell's got a new show and he's on the lookout for the next best spinner.

Simon CowellSimon Cowell is one of the most successful men in reality television. He's had a hand in shows like American Idol, America's Got Talent and The X Factor.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cowell has a new series up his sleeve. He's developing a reality competition that focuses on DJs. "DJ's are the new rock stars," said Cowell. "It feels like the right time to make this show."

Actors-turned-producers Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith will help back the series with their Overbrook Entertainment banner.

The Smiths know a thing or two about music. They've both embarked on their own musical careers (Will is a multiple Grammy winner) and so have their children.

"We have been working on this show for over a year and we wanted to partner with the right people," said Cowell.

Cowell is passionate about his latest endeavor, but won't be a judge on the show. He revealed on Twitter that his involvement will be strictly behind the scenes. If Cowell won't judge the contestants, who will? That info is being kept under wraps but we know a few guys they should hire. Paging DJ Jazzy Jeff!

Cowell is currently shopping the untitled series in both domestic and international markets. He already has relationships with several networks including Fox and NBC. But due to this show's tone, MTV might be a better fit. A DJ competition could reach a younger audience better than something like The X Factor or even So You Think You Can Dance?

What do you think? Will you tune in to Cowell's DJ competition?

I am wondering how this will be judged. I also want to compete and would like more info for the process to be apart of your show Simon. I have been passionate about deejaying for 17 years and would love this opportunity to show case what i can do and hopefully groove the judges and the audience.
