Kim Kardashian set up her own proposal for the cameras recording her reality show, says a source close to her soon-to-be-ex Kris Humphries.
The NBA star proposed with a $2 million diamond ring in Kim's own bedroom, spelling out "Will you marry me?" in rose petals. The reality queen had a hard time feigning surprise, and for good reason: She set the whole thing up herself.
"Kim told Kris how, where and when to propose, it was absolutely no surprise to her whatsoever," a source close to the couple told RadarOnline.
"First of all, Kris proposed in the middle of the day, and he had to do that because it would create better lighting to capture the moment. Kim looked so surprised but she knew it was happening," the source said. "She was in full hair and makeup, as she always is on the show. Kris wanted it to be very intimate and romantic, but all of his ideas were shot down by production officials and Kim."
"Kim told him the paparazzi would ruin the special moment if it were to take place in a public setting, like the beach, which he had also considered. How romantic could it be with three camera crews?"
Kardashian quickly realized what a big mistake she had made. On last night's episode of Kourtney & Kim Take New York showing the lead up to the breakup, Kim cried to her sister Khloe, "I'm just so unhappy. And I don't like who I am in this marriage, who I am to him, who I am to myself."
"My gut and my heart is telling me that I just did this too fast and I don't know what I'm doing. I think I just got caught up in the fairytale. I just don't feel like myself."
"I've been in a horrible mood since I got to New York: All I can think about is all the problems I've had," Kim said. "And I just feel so lost and I don't know how I got to this point."
Kardashian announced her split from Humphries just 72 days after their lavish made-for-TV wedding.
