Baby Blue's First Charitable Donation
We hear Jay-Z and Beyoncé Knowles are donating some of the gifts presented to them after the birth of their daughter, Blue Ivy, to a charity that helps young mothers.
The new parents have been inundated with presents since welcoming their daughter, Blue Ivy, on Jan. 7. While grateful, the "Crazy in Love" hit-makers have decided to give the majority of the items to those less fortunate, gossiping squeals tell Britain's Daily Star newspaper.
"They've been sent literally hundreds of gifts in the past few days. Oprah Winfrey gave a huge trunk of children's books and others like P. Diddy, Kanye West, Rihanna and Mariah Carey have all been sending luxurious baby treats," says an insider.
"Jay-Z and Beyoncé have decided to donate a massive selection of the presents to local charities for young mothers. They've already got the most precious gift -- their new baby daughter -- so they want to help out other parents who haven't been as fortunate."
Call it the wealthy's way of making amends. The couple still has not commented on complaints from other new parents at New York City's Lenox Hill Hospital alleging that their security arrangements meant visiting hours were compromised for other patients.
Naturally, there are a few items Hov, 42, and Bey, 30, want to keep for their daughter.
Former Destiny's Child member Kelly Rowland gifted the couple with $5,200 Swarovski crystal baby bathtub for the little darling. That they're keeping.
A diamond-encrusted pendant, designed especially for Blue, will also be around for years to come.
"A close friend of theirs in the music industry gave them a diamond-encrusted Cartier dummy -- it must have cost $20,000. Blue has officially got her first piece of bling!"
Baby Blue has reportedly had at least $1.5 million spent on her since her big debut last week. Most of the massive sum went toward gifts and all the trimmings it took to create a fantasy land nursery for the baby.
Mom and Dad allegedly forked over seven figures for a solid-gold, handmade rocking horse for their daughter. The tot's coach-like crib was designed by the pricey PoshTots. Blue even dines in a high chair dripping in more than $10,000 worth of Swarovski crystals.
