So far, so good: Giuliana Rancic is a survivor who has not slowed down since her breast cancer diagnosis in October. After undergoing a double mastectomy earlier this month, the TV personality is on the mend -- but it has not been as easy as she's made it look.
In an interview this morning on Today, Rancic told Matt Lauer about her difficult recovery.
"I feel great," she said. "I feel great considering it's been only two and a half weeks, but I still have a ways to go as far as recovery."
Despite her incredibly positive attitude and seemingly quick rebound, Rancic says her physical recovery from the dramatic surgery was incredibly difficult.
"It was definitely hard," she said of her post-surgery condition. "Up until about a week and a half ago it was hell."
Her fighting spirit wouldn't let her give in to the pain, though. Despite being all drugged up on morphine, still in incredible pain and sick to her stomach, Rancic had something to prove -- and she did.
"I asked a nurse what the record was for walking laps around the hospital," she explained.
Her husband Bill Rancic chimed in, "It was two. G did two and a half."
Now the couple is turning their backs on the past and looking forward to a bright future in 2012.
"We need a good year, Matt," she said.
