Death in the Osbourne family

It was not a very merry Christmas for the Osbournes. Someone near and dear to the clan died -- read on to find out who.

Death in the Osbourne family

It has been a blue Christmas around the Osbourne household. The family lost a very dear member on Christmas Day: Their 14-year-old dog Martin.

The Chihuahua was featured prominently on the family's reality show The Osbournes and was known to be one of the favorites out of Sharon Osbourne's huge brood of pups.

Kelly Osbourne announced the sad news on Twitter yesterday.

"Today is a sad day in the Osbourne family house hold we lost R dog martin of 14 years," she wrote. "Devastated does not quite sum it up! #NotSoMerryXmas."

Sharon Osbourne has an entire page of her website dedicated to her dogs, and on it she described the pooch as such: "Martin -- professionally known as Martini Bianco -- is a sophisticated little creature. Shunning the affection of women, Martin prefers the love of a good man."

The Osbourne matriarch and co-host of The Talk so far has not mentioned the dog's death on her own Twitter page.

It's been a bum month for Kelly Osbourne. On top of her dog dying, the E! Fashion Police host broke her hand when she fell out of bed in her hotel room a couple of weeks ago and said Sharon Osbourne had to brush her hair and cut her food for her. In early November, she suffered a serious head injury when she cracked her head open in Miami and passed out several times.

Let's hope things start looking up for the family in 2012.
