Do Scientologists celebrate Christmas? Juliette Lewis told Vanity Fair that Scientologists "absolutely celebrate Christmas."
"I'm a Christian!" Lewis says. "I think there's so much confusion because people don't understand a religion where you can be another religion but you can still practice Scientology. That's why it's completely progressive. It's just tools for living. It's about understanding one's self and others and compassion and how to communicate better and how to live in this troubled society. It's really basic, common sense stuff. It has nothing to do with all this funny folklore that surrounds it. You could be a Jewish Scientologist or a Buddhist Scientologist or a Christian Scientologist or anything else."
Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are one of Hollywood's most famous Scientologist couples, and they are gearing up to spend big bucks on presents for their 5-year-old daughter, Suri. In fact, her wish list includes $130,000 worth of gifts, including diamond earrings and "fairy princess" gowns -- as well as a pony!
"Tom and Katie love the holidays and always go overboard," a source said. "They are buying Suri absolutely everything she asks for."
Cruise told Extra that he likes to spend family time cooking over the holidays. "The family gets together and cooks breakfast, and everyone pitches in… I'm not [a] slouch. I'm not a gourmet chef, but I can whip up some eggs. [We're] gonna chill. We like taking those times. We really just all hang together and play games. We're all just going to have a really nice, quiet time."
John Travolta and Kelly Preston are another famous couple who are Scientologists and have attended the Scientology Celebrity Centre's Annual Christmas Stories Fundraiser. Preston has told People about her holiday plans that are full of traditional Christmas activities, including letters to Santa. "We go to our home in Maine every year. I'm huge on Christmas. So we're going to go up on the 5th of December. I take the kids sledding, Johnny comes and we all love to sled down the backyard."
