Just a few weeks ago, Jessica Simpson confirmed one of the worst-kept secrets in Hollywood: She's expecting her first child with fiance Eric Johnson. And in typical Tinseltown fashion, the singer/actress-turned-budding fashion mogul is already dreaming of her post-baby weight loss.
At least that's the story the tabloids are telling.
Team Simpson isn't talking, but word on the curb has it that Jess is on the cusp of signing a whopping $4 million contract that would make her the next belly-baring brand ambassador for weight loss giant Weight Watchers.
Jessica has had a well-publicized battle with her body mass index ever since the "Great Mom Jeans Debacle of 2009." Loose-lipped informants tell Us Weekly that Simpson had been planning to start the same program that helped formerly-portly powerhouse Jennifer Hudson work her waist down to 24 inches when she discovered that her uterus was temporarily occupied. Per her agreement with Weight Watchers, the "Sweetest Sin" singer has one year after giving birth to lose the baby weight and start plugging her hopefully "amazing" results.
Jessica could be the latest in a series of baby-toting celebs to sign on with a weight loss company. Singing diva Mariah Carey unveiled her first campaign for Jenny Craig earlier this month, just six months after welcoming twins. Former Spice Girl Melanie "Mel B" Brown, who gave birth to her third daughter in September, was tapped as the face and body of Jenny's chapter in Australia, where she is a judge on the small screen hit The X Factor.
Earlier this month, a blushing Simpson, 31, told Entertainment Tonight that she's the heaviest she's ever been. But also the happiest.
"I like wearing things more fitted. You want to show off your bump! It's just so fun. You don't want to wear muumuus so you can moo around town. I'm definitely bigger than I've ever been [but I've] never felt so connected with my body in my life."
SheKnows is awaiting comment from the Simpson camp.
