Kristin's Patriotic Date

Kristin Cavallari had an opportunity to show her patriotism — and dancing skills — as she attended a Marine Corps ball.

Dating Marines has become all the rage among celebrities. The latest is Dancing with the Stars contestant Kristin Cavallari who joined Marine Lance Cpl. Jonathan Burkett at the Marine Corps Ball in San Diego on Thursday night.

About a month after Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis each agreed to spend an evening on the arm of a Marine, Burkett asked the MTV reality star to be his date via Twitter. Less than 30 minutes later, Cavallari accepted.

"She wrote back so quick it just caught me off guard completely," Burkett told E! News in an exclusive report.

"It's a nice way to say thank you for everything [Burkett's] done for this country," Cavallari told 10 News San Diego. "Seeing faces of the people that are fighting for our country... puts everything into perspective."

Timberlake accompanied Cpl. Kelsey De Santis to her ball last weekend. He penned an emotional blog post about the evening, saying it had changed his life. Kunis is set to attend a ball in North Carolina this evening.

Cavallari got stuck in traffic getting to the ball, Burkett says, but once she got there they "had a blast" and she looked ravishing.

E! reports she was "a vision in a strapless, Grecian-style gown by Maria Lucia-Hohan, accented simply with diamond earrings, moonstone bangles and a chunky cocktail ring."

Burkett thanked Cavallari on Twitter for the "amazing time." He also thanked Cavallari's on-again beau, Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler, for allowing her to be his date. "Glad she was able to come!" Burkett wrote. "You have an awesome girlfriend and hopefully wife!"

Having lived as the wife of an active duty, and now retired, veteran, I think Kristin actually makes a beautiful Marine Corps wife! If she'd open her heart to a new love, she could fit perfectly into the lifestyle expected of wives. She would be a great addition to the community, would bring a touch of class to those who stand behind the troops, and have the perfect opportunity to be in the limelight with the respect she deserves.

Thank you Ms. Cavallari! Attending with that young Marine was a Class Act, and one that will not be forgotten. Guess Jay Cutler is even a luckier man then we already knew.
