Nia Long has given birth to a baby boy! The actress welcomed her second son on Monday -- but that's not the day of the week he's named after.
"This is the most exciting time in our lives," Long and basketball player Ime Udoka told People, revealing the pregnancy in June. "Words can't explain how thrilled we are by the new addition to our family. We feel truly blessed and appreciate all the well wishes and prayers."
A rep for the actress confirmed the baby boy's birth, noting that "both mother and child are healthy and happy to be home."
And what was Nia Long's baby name choice for her newborn son? Kez Sunday Udoka!
Baby Kez Sunday joins big brother Massai, 10, from Long's former relationship with actor Massai Z. Dorsey.
The pregnancy came as a complete surprise to Nia Long, who explained at the BET Awards, "I was supposed to go to Ghana to do a film and that's when I found out I was pregnant. I had a doctor's appointment to get the yellow fever shot and they were like, 'Miss Long, we can't give you a shot.'"
"I almost fainted," she recalls after the doctor's pregnancy announcement. "It was the best moment and the sweetest surprise ever."
Of having a child at the age of 41, Nia Long told Ebony magazine, "The medical profession tries to tell every woman, 'Have your babies before 40…' Society tells us 'Get married before 30…' I think if we just take our time as women, and do what comes natural to us and for us, we would make fewer mistakes."
