"Homecoming"

The Vampire Diaries is heading off for a little holiday hiatus, but not before giving us a midseason finale to die for.

We can already hear the cries of The Vampire Diaries' fans as the credits roll on the last episode before winter break. These fang-loving fans take hiatus time seriously.

It's all come down to the midseason finale of The Vampire Diaries.

Everyone we've wanted to see come face-to-face will meet in the all-new episode "Homecoming," and that includes Mikael (Sebastian Roche), Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Rebekah (Claire Holt).

Last week, Rebekah's world was turned upside down when Elena revealed that it was Klaus, not Mikael, who killed their mother -- the original witch.

Whether or not she'll join "team take Klaus down" remains to be seen, but we do know she has a reason for wanting to attend the homecoming dance and she's spilling all to Elena.

Elsewhere on "Homecoming," Damon enters into a "dangerous partnership" and Tyler continues with his hybrid attitude.

Check out a sneak peek of "Homecoming" and try not to get too sad knowing it's almost time for hiatus...

The CW officially describes "Homecoming" as the following: "On the night of the Homecoming dance, Rebekah (guest star Claire Holt) opens up to Elena (Nina Dobrev) about why the evening is so important to her, leaving Elena with conflicting emotions. Caroline (Candice Accola) and Matt (Zach Roerig) are both shocked at Tyler's (Michael Trevino) behavior throughout the evening. The night takes a surreal turn when Klaus (Joseph Morgan) puts his latest plan into action. Determined to outsmart Klaus, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) enters into a dangerous partnership, leading to a terrifying turn of events."

What are you going to watch to pass the time between now and Jan. 5 when TVD returns with all-new episodes? You did know that's when it returns, right? If not, click here to see return dates for all your favorite CW shows.

We're thinking of sitting by a fire, drinking hot chocolate and watching reruns.
