Just when we thought Kim Kardashian was stepping away from the glare of public scrutiny, it seems Kim's popped back into the media's eye. This time, she's attempting to fix some of the damage her divorce announcement left in its wake by traveling to Minnesota over the weekend for a face-to-face, and maybe a heart-to-heart, with ex-husband-to-be, Kris Humphries.
The divorce news didn't surprise us, but it certainly shocked Kris Humphries and his family. TMZ reported last week that the Humphries felt Kim's divorce decision was "a mistake" and that she "didn't try hard enough." Kris commented on his divorce situation via E! News to say he was deeply saddened by the sudden news of his broken marriage. "I'm committed to this marriage and everything this covenant represents. I love my wife and devastated to learn she filed for divorce. I'm willing to do whatever it takes to make it work."
Those words may have struck a chord with Kim as multiple media outlets report the two are talking things out at Kris' house in Minnesota. TMZ has a source citing the pair is set to meet with the pastor who married them sometime this week to talk about "the marriage, the divorce and their feelings." Sources close to TMZ stressed there was no word regarding any sort of reconciliation.
Kim Kardashian left for Australia just days after announcing her divorce to Ryan Seacrest on his Kiss FM radio show. After one day in Australia, a somber Kim canceled her work obligations and headed back to Los Angeles on Friday. From there, she immediately booked a commercial red-eye flight from LAX to the Minneapolis-St. Paul International airport.
It's not clear if a reconciliation is even possible, since Kim mentioned in an open letter to her fans that she had reservations about her marriage to Kris Humphries before the two tied the knot in front of millions of viewers. "I'm a hopeless romantic! I love with all my heart and soul. I want a family and babies and a real life so badly that maybe I rushed into something too soon. I believed in love and the dream of what I wanted so badly. I felt like I was on a fast roller coaster and couldn't get off when now I know I probably should have. I got caught up with the hoopla and the filming of the TV show when I probably should have ended my relationship."
Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries married in Aug. 2011 but filed for divorce in Oct. 2011, after only 72 days of marriage. Kim Kardashian cited "irreconcilable differences" as her reason for ending her marriage to the NBA player.
