Keith Urban fans take note of the latest news because that concert you've been waiting for may have to be rescheduled! The country crooner has been having problems with his throat and is now facing surgery.
A rep for Keith Urban, pictured here rocking at the Country Music Awards this past June, has confirmed that a polyp needs to be removed from the 44-year-old's vocal cords. "The surgery, an out-patient procedure, while minor, will require complete voice rest followed by an undetermined period of recuperation," Urban's rep said Thursday.
Well-wishes immediately began pouring into the singer's Twitter page: "@KeithUrban you're a fantastic artist and talent...sending you good wishes!"
"Get better soon," wrote one fan while another commented, ":( thoughts & prayers are w/you Keith for a full & speedy recovery!! <3"
Still, others are wondering why so many big-name singers are requiring throat surgery as of late. In recent weeks, Adele has been forced to cancel her 2011 tour dates and then issue a denial about throat cancer after rumors got out of hand.
John Mayer has also gone under the knife for throat issues and is currently on complete vocal rest. In a personal message to fans, he shared, "I wanted to give you an update on the granuloma just above my vocal cord. I had surgery this afternoon to remove it and am now on complete vocal rest for a month or more. It's been a very long process in waiting to see if time was an alternative to surgery, but even given two weeks' voice rest (along with many other approaches), there was no change for the better."
No word yet on how long Keith Urban will be out of commission, though it sounds like he's going to have some solid time to rest at home with wife Nicole Kidman and their daughters Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret. Best wishes go out to Keith Urban for a speedy recovery!
