Katie Holmes is returning to television on an episode of CBS' How I Met Your Mother. The former Dawson's Creek star will appear in the Halloween episode as the gorgeous "Slutty Pumpkin." She'll play the object of affection for Josh Radnor's character Ted, who mixes it up with the rest of the group at a costume party.
Almost every female guest star on How I Met Your Mother is speculated to be the infamous "mother" we've heard so much about. But according to Eonline, Holmes is only slated to appear in the one episode, "Perfect on Paper," which significantly cuts her chances of being the mom.
The Slutty Pumpkin character (aka Naomi) was first mentioned during season 1 of the HIMYM series as Ted's perfect girl -- that got away. She was everything he could want in a girl and more. She loves Star Wars, gets his weird sense humor and is quite the looker. Unfortunately, he lost her phone number, which was strategically written on a Kit Kat wrapper. This year, Ted returns to the same party where he spots Naomi again. Will lightning strike twice for the couple?
Aside from How I Met Your Mother, Holmes recently appeared in the made-for-TV-miniseries The Kennedy's, playing former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy. She also guest starred on an episode of the defunct ABC dramedy Eli Stone in 2008. She's currently starring in the theatrically released The Son of No One and Adam Sandler's Jack and Jill.
How I Met Your Mother airs Monday nights on CBS.
