DVD/BluRay Report: Bridesmaids bring home the party

Bridesmaids is ready to rock your weekend and dominate the Redbox, Netflix and OnDemand DVD/Blu-ray scene this weekend. For those still preparing for the fall 2011 TV season, check out another round of new TV releases from the likes of Happy Endings, Two and a Half Men, Big Bang Theory, The Mentalist, Mike & Molly, Modern Family and more.

The films currently ruling the DVD/Blu- Ray rental battle are Thor, Something Borrowed, Everything Must Go, Paul, Rio, Your Highness, Limitless, Tyler Perry's Madea's Big Happy Family, Never Back Down 2: The Beatdown and Soul Surfer.

Bridesmaids: This female-driven, R-rated comedy created a stir from the first screenings and blew away the competition at theaters, and with good reason. There are more laughs-per-minute in the film than any in eons. The fact that Bridesmaids is from super comedy producer Judd Apatow (40-Year-Old Virgin, Knocked Up) is only one spoke in the wheel that is the faultless comedy movie. Saturday Night Live's Kristen Wiig and her writing partner, Annie Mumolo, channeled years of bridesmaid experiences to perfectly capture the humor, heartache and hysteria that is that iconic wedding role of supporting the bride. Maya Rudolph plays the bride and Rose Byrne (Get Him to the Greek), Melissa McCarthy (Mike and Molly), Ellie Kemper (The Office) and Wendi McLendon-Covey (Reno 911) also get in on the laughs.

The Setup:  In this straight-to-DVD crime thriller, three friends execute a daring jewel heist, but one of them (Ryan Phillippe) pulls a deadly double-cross on his partners. The survivor (Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson) seeks revenge with the help of a mob boss (Bruce Willis).
