'David Beckham died' rumor patrol

Waking up to reports David Beckam died in a car accident is no way to start the day! Shame on those internet death hoax pranksters.

Rest easy soccer fans, David Beckham is alive and kickin'. Here's hoping that while reports David Beckham had died in a car crash took over the internet Wednesday morning, the soccer star was snuggled up at home, alive and well with wife Victoria Beckham.

David Beckham

Seen here as the picture of health with his three sons in Aug., David Beckham, while not dead, may be the unfortunate victim of an increasing number of celebrity death hoaxes. Other recent 'dead' victims include Jackie Chan, Wesley Snipes and Hugh Hefner.

At the source of this most recent rumor appears to be faux news web site Global Associated News. A post on their page marked "This story is still developing..." reports:

David Beckham died in a single vehicle crash on Route 80 between Morristown and Roswell. He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics responding to the vehicle accident and was identified by photo ID found on his body. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to have been a factor in this accident - September 21, 2011

Apparently not afraid to add a little gore to up their stories believability factor they write, "Memorial services for David Beckham have not yet been announced. The service is expected to be a closed casket funeral due to the severe head trauma."

Way way down at the bottom of the page is a small note that is supposedly meant to let readers know the David Beckham death report is a hoax. It reads, "FAKE… THIS STORY IS 100% FAKE! this is an entertainment website, and this is a totally fake article based on zero truth and is a complete work of fiction for entertainment purposes! this story was dynamically generated using a generic 'template' and is not factual. Any reference to specific individuals has been 100% fabricated by website visitors who have created fake stories by entering a name into a blank 'non-specific' template for the purpose of entertainment."

Instead of the fake 'news' story, why not a report on David Beckham's latest soccer news, those four adorable kids with Victoria Beckham or even his recent shenanigans on The Ellen Degeneres show?
