Disney Channel is at it again, making more wholesome family comedies that parents will enjoy watching with their children. This time out of the gate comes Jessie, a sweet comedy about a young girl from a small town who moves to New York City and becomes a nanny for a wealthy family.
While the premise has already been done (Fran Drescher as The Nanny) Jessie will entertain the kids with lots of slapstick laughs and good, wholesome comedy. Young girls will emulate Jessie, who sticks to her guns by not becoming intimidated by the grandness of New York City. She navigates young adulthood not in tight skirts and big hair, but rather, with a smile on her face and the support system she has found in this busy, large family in her care.
Starring in this show is Debby Ryan, who most recently starred in The Suite Life on Deck and 16 Wishes for Disney Channel. The show features a multi-racial family and showcases the benefits of adoption and how it affects children in a family. Case in point lies with the show's Ross family patriarch, Morgan and mom Christina. They have one biological child, Emma, and have adpoted Ravi, Luke and Zuri.
The show delves into the concept of kids fitting in, no matter where they are from and tackles such subjects as imaginary playmates, learning to be yourself wherever you may be from in the world and knowing that in the end, your family will always have your back.
This live-action comedy series was created by Pamela Eells O'Connell (Family Matters, The Suite Life of Zack & Cody and The Suite Life on Deck) and she also serves as executive producer. It carries a TV-G rating.
