Cher Supports Her Son,
Chaz Bono

Cher is calling for fans to support her son, Chaz Bono, against the haters.

Cher speaks out for son Chaz Bono

Mama bear Cher is angry with all the vicious commenting circulating the web about her son, new Dancing With the Stars contestant Chaz Bono.

"Lovelies! Chaz is Being Viciously Attacked on Blogs & Message boards about being on DWTS!This (sic) is Still America right ? It took guts 2 do it," Cher tweeted Wednesday afternoon.

The iconic singer is referring to comments made about Bono's transition from female to male.

"HUGE HUGE fan of this show since season two and eagerly await each season to get my dancing/entertainment 'fix'!! But when I heard that Chaz Bono was going to be on, I was sick. Not that I have anything personally against her/him. I just don't want that lifestyle choice continually flaunted in the media, esp. ABC," a person wrote on an ABC message board.

Bono -- born as Chastity Bono to Cher and the late Sonny Bono -- started the gender transition process a couple of years ago after living as a man for some time.

"I support him no matter what he chooses 2do! God! will there always be haters! It took COURAGE 2 do dwts ! TG Chaz has an Unlimited supply," Cher continued.

We have to agree! It takes a lot of confidence and perseverance to dust off the hate and compete with pride. Cher went on to ask fans to spread a positive message of her son's involvement throughout the web.

"Bet VAST MAJORITY of People will LOVE CHAZ on DWTS ! & it's took [expletive] Guts 2! Chaz isn't exactly the "Gotta Dance Gotta Dance"kinda Guy," she added.

We can't wait to check out Chaz Bono on Dancing With the Stars. We think he'll surprise us with his moves.

The way Chaz was treated was so wrong by the judge. In schools, this is serious bullying. For adults to do this, it is public lynching. And let me tell you this, Chaz was always and is a man. Chaz has so much more humanity in him than those who call him names.Educate yourself and I hope there is some kindness still left for who bully this way.No wonder we educators have a lot of work in schools. Not removing bullies like the judge and his grinning co-workers on TV means there is nothing much worthy to watch. I am what you call totally straight and all the fans of Chaz should not be quiet about this sort of lynching. Chaz, you are simply amazing. Many are with you.

I only watched the show because of Chaz Bono. I wanted so bad for him to do good and improve every week. And good for you for trying Chaz. I,m sure you worked very hard and I can't imagine how any of you can remember all those steps every week. And that crap about someone not watching anymore because of flaunting s and transgenders, get real. Do you watch any other television? That is nothing compared to some of the other crap on tv. And wait till the family gets out into the real world! Much as we would love to protect our children from everything, it's not possible. Although, Cher sticking up for Chaz, it doesn't matter if your child is 5 or 90, a loving mother will scratch your eyes out when you attack her children. God help any of these critical people if they stood in front of her and said those awful, mean statements. Good luck in whatever you decide to do with your life Chaz. You have alot of us fans who are there for you.

@Stacy Not anymore...Gender Reassignment surgery changes biology.

Stacie September 01, 2011 | 12:15 PM

Sorry, it's gross. Stop referring to Chaz as "him". She is biologically a girl.

and what was kendra famous for besides bedding old timer hefner and exposing herself. she turned into an excellent dancer and sure showed lynn goodman a dance he will never forget. i loved it when she got up on the table and lynn was under her for the best show of his life. his expression of delight was priceless. i don't care for her personally but she was a good contestant and listened to the judges for tips and thats what this show is about. listening and learning so you can be the mirrored ball trophy winner.

Have been, and will continue to be, a fan of the artistry, athleticism, discipline, commitment and courage DWTS promotes. Last season, we applauded Kirsty Alley for her courage to move, her not so svelte body, to a commendable finish. This season, Chaz seems to be carrying the torch of hope. Good luck and well wishes to all who brave the experience of doing something outside of your comfort zone. I do hope those who have expressed anger and concern that DWTS has taken a turn for the worse will someday see through their ignorance and intolerance...Those same people are probably allowing their children to watch a Kardashian porn tape or a bunch of drunken twenty somethings shame an entire generation and race of Italians from New Jersey...or possibly study Einstein's theory of relativity...one can hope?

DTWS is saying there is no hidden agenda but this probably is an effort to boost ratings. That said, I respect Chaz's decision to be a part of the show. It must be extremely difficult to make the decisions he has had to make, especially being in the public eye. Maybe this will help others who feel they can't be themselves. I don't watch the show regularly and this won't make me watch it more, but I just want to say, Go Chaz!

I really don't enjoy the program anymore. I just wish Chaz well on this venture. But I would love to see him lose some of that excess weight. And I hope this is the Last Season for this program. Things are just dragged out for wayyy to long. You can tell just by the first performance if the person is any type of dancer. PLEASE get rid of these judges. They forget these people are NOT professionals. They (the judges) are overly dramatic with their opinions. I did STOP watching the show a very long time ago. It became TOTALLY ANNOYING!!
