In the wake of Nick Ashford's death on Monday, there 'Ain’t No Mountain High Enough' to stop celebs and music royalty from paying their respects. Carole King, Lenny Kravitz, Alicia Keys, MC Hammer, Ashanti, Russell Simmons, Peter Frampton and more are taking to twitter to mourn and celebrate one half of Motown's writing and performing duo, Ashford & Simpson.

Nick Ashford and Valerie Simpson started making music together in 1963 and never stopped--whether they were taking center stage themselves or writing hit songs for the likes of Diana Ross, Marvin Gaye, Tammi Terrell and Chaka Khan.

The married duo behind Solid, Ain't No Mountain High Enough, Reach Out and Touch Somebody's Hand,I'm Every Woman and You're All I Need (To Get By) has been quieted now, however. Ashford lost his battle against throat cancer on Monday, Aug. 22, and is survived by his wife and writing partner, Simpson as well as their daughters.

Since news of Ashford's passing landed, the internet has been flooded with Ashford and Simpson clips, playlists, obits and more, while Ashford's colleagues have taken to social networking sites like Twitter to pay their respects.

God received another angel named Nick Ashford, and added another voice to his heavenly choir. R.I.P. Nick. Valerie, and daughters, I pray that the wonderful memories that are in your hearts will help to get you through the tremendous loss of him, as a devoted husband and father.
