It's a new twist on a country love story: A couple meets, falls in love, gets married...except in this case it's a country singer and a gay rights activist and they're both women.
After dating for a year, singer Chely Wright married her partner Lauren Blitzer in an intimate and surprisingly traditional ceremony.
Both brides wore long white gowns at the celebration held at the Connecticut home of Blitzer's aunt. They skipped the veils, though -- "We like our hair too much!" Wright told People.
The big day included a DJ instead of a band, barbecue from famed New York eatery Blue Smoke and both a rabbi and a minister.
The couple met just two weeks after Chely Wright came out.
"The freedom of being out and open about who I am allowed me to find and fall in love with Lauren – the most amazing woman I've ever known," Wright said.
