What happened to Julia Stiles?

Julia Stiles says her gig on Dexter has allowed her to release repressed emotions -- but after she had a breakdown at the airport, fans are wondering if it is all too much.

What happened to Julia Stiles?

Nominated for an Emmy for her role as Lumen Ann Pierce in the hit serial killer drama Dexter, Julia Stiles says the role allows her to release emotions that she normally has to repress to function in society.

"It's pretty exhilarating, partially because of the history of the show. There's a kind of sacredness to the way that [kill scenes are] filmed… I felt privileged to be a part of it. And then performing it, you get to play out things in your imagination that you're not allowed to do. That was special to me," Stiles told LA Times.

"Emotions like hate or anger or revenge, all the stuff you have to repress in civilized society."

But is all that emotion on Dexter getting to be too much for the actress? Stiles was spotted at LAX yesterday having what can only be described as an emotional breakdown.

She was red faced, splotchy and obviously upset as she got off her plane, witnesses say, then burst into tears at baggage claim and sobbed as she leaned against a wall.

When Stiles saw the paparazzi snapping her sadness, she turned and gave a slight smile to show she was okay.

No word on what precipitated the fit of emotion, but we hope all is well in the world of Julia Stiles today.
