Netflix Unveils
A Kiddie Tab

Looking to bring home SpongeBob SquarePants, Selena Gomez, Dora the Explorer, Phineas and Ferb or Big Bird? Netflix has made it easier for you and your little ones to find kid-friendly TV shows and movies with its new Just for Kids tab.

Netflix just made family movie night easier! The video rental site has launched a Just for Kids tab, which links straight to a newly-designed, easy to navigate section created for visitors ages 12 and under.

Netflix launches Just for Kids tab

"Kids discover and categorize movies and TV shows differently than adults," explains Todd Yellin, Netflix Vice President of Product Innovation. "Just as we have revolutionized the way people find the movies and shows they want to watch when and how they want to, we're making it easier for kids and parents alike to have the best possible Netflix experience."

Netflix visitors young and old can just click on fave TV shows, movies or characters for a complete selection of related programming, but content is also grouped and organized into kid friendly genres like superheroes, princesses, dinosaurs and girl power.

In addition to easy to spot icons for the kids, listings will offer clear and simple programming descriptions from Common Sense Media, a non-profit that provides independent ratings, reviews and information for parents. "We've partnered with Netflix for many years and our work informs the overall quality and scope of the Just for Kids experience, helping parents to make great media choices for the entire family," said Amy Guggenheim Shenkan, president and COO, Common Sense Media.

As of now, the Just for Kids tab is functional on the Netflix website. Over the next year, it will also launch via Wii, iPad, Xbox, Playstation and other devices.

Comments on "Netflix: Just for Kids"

It seems to me that alot of what Netflix is Streaming now is either focused towards kids or is "animated"-which leads me to believe that a great deal of what Netflix is fronting is for kids. With the loss of Starz at the end of February-Netflix is going to have to do alot of "heavy-duty" tap dancing to keep their ADULT audience. A great deal of what I see is stuff that many of us already saw on cable long ago-and really do not which to "regurgitate" all over again on Netflix. So my comment to Netflix is-you better get ready-because I hear you have competition comin"-heads-up!!!!
