Dark Knight Rises: one sheet!

The Dark Knight Rises won’t hit theaters until summer 2012 but the first teaser poster has debuted this week! Yes, you read that right. After almost four years of waiting, Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale are gearing up for Batman’s grand finale!

Dark Knight Rises

The poster for The Dark Knight Rises brings a new meaning to the phrase "Things fall apart."

The poster shows a group of buildings on the verge of collapse and in the midst of their descent is the Batman symbol. If that's not metaphorical we don't know what is.

The last time we saw Batman, he was fleeing the scene of a crime. He decided to take the blame for Harvey Dent's wrongdoings because he didn't want Gotham to lose hope in the goodness of people. He didn't want them to know that their D.A. had fallen from grace. But judging from this teaser, Batman's (Christian Bale) plan didn't work.

With or without him it looks like the city's on the decline. And we're sure it has a little something to do with Tom Hardy's Bane and Anne Hathaway's Catwoman. Wouldn't you agree?

The Dark Knight Rises debuts on July 22, 2012.
