Crazy kids in love don't waste any time -- and that's exactly why Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka are engaged just hours after New York passed a bill that will legalize gay marriage in the Empire State.
Actually, the couple has been engaged for five years -- but now that the bill has passed they can finally make it legal. And of course, it all went down on Twitter, where tons of celebrities reacted to the passage of the same sex marriage bill.
During the dramatic lead-up to the bill's passage yesterday, the How I Met Your Mother star first wrote, "I'd sure love to get married. Please, NY Senate, vote in favor of marriage equality today. My family would really appreciate it."
When the historic bill was passed, Harris was ecstatic, writing, "It PASSED! Marriage equality in NY!! Yes!! Progress!! Thank you everyone who worked so hard on this!! A historic night!"
Then he dropped the bombshell. "David and I did propose to each other, but over five years ago!" Harris tweeted. "We've been wearing engagement rings for ages, waiting for an available date."
Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka are the parents of absolutely adorable twins Harper and Gideon, born via surrogate last October.
