Angelina Do-Gooding In Turkey
Friday afternoon Angelina Jolie is set to touch down in Turkey, where it is reported she will be greeted with a banner reading: 'Goodness Angel of the World, Welcome.'
Angelina Jolie, as part of her work as Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner, is set to meet with some of the 10,000 refugees from warn-torn Syria.
The mother of six with partner Brad Pitt is making the high-profile trip to help focus attention on the misery faced by refugees who have escaped the violence in turbulent Syria. The refugees have fled Syria due to a violent crackdown on anti-government protesters.
To say that the people are pleased to have Angelina Jolie visit may be a bit of an understatement. Early in the day Turkish authorities were hanging a 16-yard-long banner near the entrance of the camp in preparation for the Hollywood star's arrival. The banner reads: "Goodness Angel of the World, Welcome."
That's 48 long feet of Angelina Jolie adoration!
CNN reports the 36-year-old packed along a few surprises for the youngest refugees. Upon touchdown, "toys unloaded from the plane were loaded to one of the vans in her convoy," according to the state-run Anatolian Agency.
Looks like the plan to have Angie's visit to Turkey bring attention to the refugees is working -- even if the gushing banner is bringing nearly as much attention as she is!
Keep up the good work, Angelina Jolie!
