The secondary tomfoolery that went down on this week's episode of The Bachelorette was nothing compared to the exit of Bentley. Sure, Ben C. got flash mobbed and danced with a bunch of strangers, Jeff took off his mask and Ashley Hebert got roasted by her men -- leaving her in tears we might add -- but Bentley was the man who made us remember how mean some people can be. Well, as mean as reality TV show villains can be, I guess we should say.
Bentley's exit began with the roast of Ashley. William did not play fair, comparing Ashley to Emily Maynard (Brad Womack's choice) -- and not in a good way. When is everyone going to stop wishing she was Emily?
Bentley came to her rescue, but not before saying: "I can't believe he said that. I feel the same way, but I'm not going to say that to her." Everything started to unravel back at the party after the roast.
First, Ashley decided to tell Bentley that Michelle (from The Bachelor) filled her in about his plans to promote his business on the show. Of course, he chalked it up to Michelle being an awful source. After some talking and snuggling it looked like Ashley believed his bull. His plan to comfort her didn't land him a date rose, however, and it really pissed him off. Cue the meanest exit, at least in our minds, in the history of The Bachelorette: "I'm checking out."
He tells the guys he's leaving to take care of his daughter, when really it's because he's not attracted to Ashley. He says he really does miss his daughter, but that's not why he's leaving. Who lies like that? Then it's on to deliver the news to Ashley.
He actually says, and it's just so gross, "I'm going to make Ashley cry. I hope my hair looks OK." He called her an "ugly duckling" compared to Emily Maynard -- SICK!
He talked to Ashley about being a good dad and going home to be with his daughter, all the while telling the camera: "I talked a lot about needing to be with my daughter, and she went for it. She, like, consoled me and stuff."
Ashley was left in a heap of tears saying, "I pictured the end, and I pictured you there." And out the door Bentley went!
It's hard to move on to a rose ceremony after that, but after canceling the cocktail hour she managed to send Jeff and his mask home along with Chris.
What did you think of Bentley's exit strategy? Was it clever or do you think there's more to this story than we actually know? Check out the video and tell us. It's long, so pop some popcorn!
