Mary Murphy speaks for herself, previewing where So You Think You Can Dance found the hottest dancers in season eight, giving a shout-out to her work hubby (and exec producer) Nigel Lythgoe and teasing some new additions to the cast.
The spirited judge also talks about life after cancer. Murphy had cancer surgery back in December 2010 and her scare was the real reason she left the judges' panel for a season.
"There was a tumor in my throat," Murphy told SheKnows back in January. "I don't know if it was from all the screaming, but I'm glad they caught it. My friends all pushed me to go to the doctor. The tumor started showing in my throat. It was quite large. I started losing my voice [and] having a hard time swallowing, so I went in."
Months later, she is all smiles as she dishes on how she and her voice are recovering. She didn't quite have the voice back for season seven, but will she be up for blowing the hot tamale whistle in season eight? Watch the clip to see what she has to say about that and so much more.
So You Think You Can Dance season eight premieres tonight, Thursday, May 26, 2011 with a two-hour episode starting at 8 p.m. on Fox.
Be warned readers: This ain't no red carpet interview. SheKnows caught up with Mary Murphy at a hopping American Idol finale party. Luckily, you can hear everything, but we had to get up close and personal to make that happen. Check it out:
