Cheryl Cole out, Nicole Scherzinger in on The X-Factor? That's what TMZ is saying. The gossip website cites unnamed sources that claim Scherzinger was recently pulled from her co-hosting duties to replace Cole.
If true, the replacement would really shake up the judging chemistry on the singing reality competition. We're wondering what happened, especially since creator Simon Cowell was just singing Cole's praises a few weeks ago.
"I thought she was bright, cute, knew what she was talking about, ambitious. And you meet someone special a few times in your life, and this girl is special," Cowell said about Cole, 27. "If people take to her like the British public did, I think she's going to do really well in America. And FOX was desperate to hire her."
Cole was just as pumped about her big break into American entertainment.
"I'm so excited to be taking part in the American version of The X-Factor. I absolutely love it here in the U.K., and with the talent they have out in America, I'm sure we're going to find someone very special," Cole said after the announcement.
"I can't wait to get started. I just can't decide whether I am more excited to find and nurture the talent or for the unbelievable amount of amusement and entertainment I will have watching Simon doing everything and anything he can to beat me," Cole continued.
We'll be watching the developments closely to find out what -- if anything -- happened. We're hoping it's not true -- Cole is perfect for The X-Factor!
