You see, Ryan Seacrest is an old American Idol pro. While the contestants are sweating it out, waiting for the host to reveal their fate, Ryan has enough time on his hands to tweet.
However, it seems spreading the show's happenings, even in as little as Twitter's allotted 140 characters, has gotten Ryan into some hot water in the past. "I got into trouble one night because we do the show live to the East Coast," he explains. "And I got into the car and I said who went home. The West Coast got really p-ssed."
As American Idol, now down to the final three contestants, draws to a close, Ryan Seacrest is practicing particular caution. "Now I think about the time zones before I send anything," he says. "You have to be very careful about it."
When Jay Leno inquired if there was any kind of a 'Twitter Anonymous' to help Ryan break his tweeting habit, the American Idol host jokingly replied, "Yeah, it's called FOX."
