Wonder Woman pilot rejected

After all the fuss over casting and costumes, NBC has killed the Wonder Woman remake before it ever got to air.

Wonder Woman pilot rejected

NBC has passed on the Wonder Woman revamp, according to network sources.

Months of intense nerd debate over casting and costumes have come to naught as NBC has decided not to bring the Wonder Woman pilot to series. While an official announcement by the network is still forthcoming -- upfronts start Monday in New York, and that's when season schedule announcements are usually made -- inside sources are adamant.

Adrianne Palicki from Friday Night Lights was set to play Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, and Elizabeth Hurley was on board as villainess Veronica Cale.

The pilot received mixed reviews at screenings and was poorly received by network execs, according to The Hollywood Reporter. No surprise considering the most buzz the show got was about exactly what skin-tight outfit Wonder Woman would wear to fight crime.

Tracie Thoms, who was set to play Wonder Woman's BFF Etta, pretty much confirmed the news on Twitter.

"I am very sad that NBC passed on Wonder Woman. But that just goes to show you: There is no such thing as a 'sure thing' in this biz."

If you were really, really counting on this show, fear not, for all is not lost: Creator David E. Kelley could still pitch it to other networks, including cable channels.
