It turns out the fairytale ending for Teen Mom 2 stars Leah Messer and Corey Simms isn't so magical after all -- Messer has filed for divorce after just six months of marriage.
Messer filed the paperwork between April 9 and 15 in Kanawha County, West Virginia, according to Us Weekly. The divorce isn't really that surprising -- Messer found out she was pregnant with twins only a month after she started dating Simms. The couple split up after the twins were born and reunited several months later. He proposed soon after in a moment documented on the hit MTV reality show -- and the wedding was featured on the last episode of the season.
"Everything Corey and I have done has happened so fast," Messer recently told Us Weekly.
"I didn't want to jump into something else and be like, 'Oh, s--t! What did we do?'" Messer told the magazine. "Three years ago, back before I was pregnant, I never thought I'd be married now. I was scared because a lot of people who marry young end up divorcing within a year."
"My mom and dad married, divorced, remarried and divorced again," she continued. "I don't want my girls [Aliannah and Aleeah, 16 months] to go through that. My mom talked to me because she wed at 16 and didn't want me to go through a divorce like she did."
Looks like she's joining that group. However, she's not the only teen mom to face personal troubles: Fellow Teen Mom 2 star Jenelle Evans recently pleaded guilty to drug charges in North Carolina. Another Teen Mom star, Amber Portwood, faces jail time in an incident aired on the reality show in 2010.
Friends are hoping the couple will reconcile soon.
"They are not in a good place right now," a source tells Us. "Their friends are hoping they find a way to make it work."
