Nicole Kidman has said that she kept her baby a secret to protect everyone involved.

Nicole Kidman Keith Urban

Nicole Kidman shocked the world when she announced she and husband Keith Urban had a baby via a gestational carrier. The couple successfully kept the news so quiet that the press never got so much as a little whiff of the news. Now Nicole is talking about why it was such a big secret.

The Rabbit Hole star chatted about it with Giuliana Rancic on the red carpet at the SAG Awards.

"I wanted to be able to tell everybody because I was so excited about her," Kidman said.

"We just decided this was our thing together," the 43-year-old mom said of Urban. "It kind of just perpetuated itself."

"…It protects her," Kidman added, "and it protects everyone in the situation."

The Aussie actress announced her new addition on January 17 when little Faith Margaret was just three weeks old. She has another daughter with Urban, two-year-old Sunday Rose, and teens Isabella and Connor with ex-husband Tom Cruise.

Mich, You think Nicole may have been "inconvenienced" by carrying a child? Nicole has struggled with fertility her whole life. Guess you were in too much of a hurry to insult her for living a life you don't approve of.

We are in a troubled, confused time when a couple will have the husband masturbate into a cup and rent another woman's womb and body to "have" a child. I have no idea why Nicole, a self-proclaimed Catholic (but the Catholic Church teaches invitro, masturbation, and "womb" rental are all sins), would do this. Perhaps she wanted to continue making movies rather than have the inconvenience of carrying her own child. Perhaps she was having trouble conceiving. Apparently the Hollywood attitude of "I get what I want" is still dominating Ms. Kidman's strange life.
