Sting and Trudie Styler dish to Harper's Bazaar on how they have kept their relationship hot and heavy -- even after being together for nearly 30 years (and married for 18 of those) and having six children together.
Fifty-nine-year-old Sting reveals that they don't put much stock in romance. "We like tawdry," he confessed.
He revealed that one secret is that they appreciate each other on a daily basis. "Relationships aren't easy, and I don't think they're particularly natural, but we're lucky because we actually like each other," he revealed. "We love each other -- that's a given -- but Trudie lights up my world when she comes into a room. I don't take her for granted."
They both have busy careers that keep them apart for long stretches at a time. Sting is currently on his Symphonicity tour and Styler, 57, is a documentary filmmaker and actress. They confess that this is also the key to long-term happiness. "Being apart juices the relationship," said Styler.
Sting, who is rumored to have eight-hour tantric sex sessions with his wife, agreed. "I don't think pedestrian sex is very interesting. There's a playfulness we have; I like the theater of sex. I like to look good. I like her to dress up. I like to dress her up."
Styler says they also make communication a priority. "It's important to have frank discussions about what the other wants," Styler said. "To be in a relationship that is like a little lifetime, that's a challenge."
"I could lose her," joked Sting. "He'd have to be rich and handsome, but..."
Somehow, we doubt that would happen!
