Water for Elephants features Robert Pattinson in a role that is the polar opposite of his character Edward Cullen in The Twilight Saga. With Reese Witherspoon playing his leading lady, Water for Elephants is bound to be a box office draw.
In Water for Elephants, Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon star in a love story set against the backdrop of a "Depression-era" circus. In the newly released trailer, Pattinson stars as Jacob Janowski, the torn lover who falls in love with a captivating circus performer, Marlena Rosenbluth, played by Reese Witherspoon.
Jacob calls her a "beautiful woman [who] deserves a beautiful life." The snag is that Marlena Rosenbluth is married to August Rosenbluth, a sinister animal trainer played by Christoph Waltz.
Water for Elephants, inspired by the New York Times bestseller of the same name, was directed by Francis Lawrence and hits theaters on April 15.
Will the young circus couple beat the odds as they navigate a tricky love affair? If you've read the book, maybe you know, but as Reese Witherspoon's character says of the circus, "I'm a star. Out there, I got nothing." Something tells us it won't be easy.
