David Cassidy Pleads Not Guilty

David Cassidy has pleaded not guilty to DUI a day after the Florida Highway Patrol released his arrest video.

Former teen idol David Cassidy submitted his written plea of not guilty to the Florida court in response to DUI charges stemming from his November 3 arrest.

Cassidy claims the only alcohol he consumed that day was a single glass of wine hours earlier and that he was tired after attending an early morning funeral that day.

Oh yeah, and he took a potent opiate, hydrocodone, two-and-a-half hours before he was pulled over. And he had a half-empty bottle of bourbon rattling around the back seat. Oopsie!

A breath test taken two hours after he was pulled over logged .141 and .139 blood alcohol levels, significantly over the legal limit. Dash cam footage released by the Florida Highway Patrol show a wobbly Cassidy failing field sobriety tests.

Cassidy faces a maximum six months in jail and $1000 fine if convicted of the three charges: misdemeanor DUI, failure to maintain a single lane and driving with an open container. He is due in court to face the judge on January 18.

i have been a fan of david since i was 11, i also know him in real life. it will be curious to see how to tries to discredit the tests taken at time of arrest that show he was indeed......impared. reguardless of his clean record, he is human and makes mistakes..this is obviously one of them. i thank God he didnt kill anyone or himself this time. jack cassidy, his dad died due to being drunk when a fire broke out in his apartment back in the lase 70's, and a mutual friend of ours.carrie medskur was killed back in the early 80's july 4th from a drunk driver. she died a very violent death on the santa monica frwy. and get this, the drunk had 3 priour dui's. david.....next time, ask a friend to drive you when you get under the influence. i dont want to read ur obit any time soon!!!!!

there is the paradox of David. Want attention and then doesn't want it. He wants the attention when it suits him. Watching the video...he was defiant with the officer. He could not keep quiet for the life of him. I had seen him at concerts (as a fan)-he is the same way, inconsiderate, rude and disrepectful. Most times it is unwarranted behavior from him. David has bullied many people at concerts, so I guess what goes around comes around. I wouldn't want to deal with drunk people on a daily basis as these troopers do. There are interesting stories they deal with all the time! David needs to get help-he is cracking-

If he pleads not guilty, he's going to jail for 6 months. the evidence against him is overwhelming, and the best lawyer in the land will not win him this case. Its BS. Fess up man.

While I don't think David is an innocent victim of police brutality, I do think that he dashcam footage shows a police officer really getting off on being a bully. I think that David needs to man up and admit he made a big mistake. He has kept a clean record for 60 years so I don't think this episode shows that he is a monster, just that he used some really poor judgement.

You certainly seem very entertained by the whole situation. I guess it wouldn't matter to you that David is an innocent victim of police brutality now would it?
